The Lagos state chapter of the Nigerian institute of public relations,NIPR, has elected new executive to run the affairs of the chapter for the next two years.
The election took place on May 24, 2018 during the year’s Leadership Lecture/AGM of the association held at MUSON Center, Onikan, Lagos with the theme: “Boosting Competiveness And Inclusive Growth Through Communication.
Olusegun McMedal was elected chairman. Other members of the executive are Mrs Eniola Mayowa as Vice chairman, Mrs Thelma Okoh, General Secretary; Dr Fatimah Binta Ahmadu ,Assistant General Secretary; Mr Asuquo Iquoh ,Financial Secretary; and Mrs Modinat Olowoesin Tosin as Treasurer.
Also, Mrs Toyin Nwosu emerged as (Public Relations Executive), Mr Samuel Adeyemi (Internal Auditor), Mrs Comfort Nwankwo (Ex Officio), Mrs Chinenze Amanfo (Ex officio) and Barrister Joseph Okonmah (Immediate Past Chairman).
The chairman promised to continue the repositioning programme embarked by his administration and also pledged to run an all inclusive tenure whereby the contribution of all the members would be sought for.
Earlier, the guest speaker at the event, Mr. Foluso Olajide Philips, Chief Executive Officer of Philips Consulting Group called for public relations officials to use their positions to communicate effectively to the public and not just passing information. He charged them to analyse situations, find positive messages and translate those messages to positive stories so as to create the type of change the country needs.
Other guest of Honour at the 2018 at the event were, Mrs. Olusola Momoh, the Vice chairman of channels Media Group , Mr. Emeka Madugbuna, Chairman /Chief Executive Officer of Corporate And Financial services Porta Novelli as The Chairman of the Panel, Mr Tokunbo Modupe of TPT International, Dr Mrs. Nwachukwu, General Manager, External Affairs and Communications, Seplat Petroleum Development company, Mr Hammeed Abubakar, the Group Director, Consumer and TMT Sector, African Practice.
